Workshop on"Training Module Development on Savings & Credit Management and Conflict Resolution"

In Bangladesh, there has been a significant refugee influx, primarily from Myanmar, leading to the establishment of refugee camps, particularly in the Cox’s Bazar region. The local host communities, often near these camps, face significant socio-economic challenges, including high unemployment, low household income, and limited access to resources. Women entrepreneurs, especially in these areas, face additional barriers due to sociocultural constraints, and restricted access to markets, finance, and business training. Developing a progressive community needs networking among emerging women and young women from both forcibly displaced and host communities, Women’s empowerment is essential for developing socio-economic and women’s self-employment is the first step toward women’s empowerment. In a progressive community, women can go ahead toward self-sustainability, socio-networking of women, partnership, fundraising, media marketing, and leading in society. This concept note proposes a project that aims to create market linkages between the host communities, refugee camps, and women entrepreneurs to foster economic empowerment, promote local businesses, and ensure sustainable livelihoods for these marginalized groups.

That’s why to be empowered women and young women, UN Women have taken up this project “Accelerating socio-economic development by enhancing resilience of forcing displaced and Bangladeshi female communities”. WEAB is playing the lead role and Prottoy Unnayan Sangstha is the implement organization in this project.
